Andrew John Craig was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, and is the sole resident artist of the Skoon Gallery in Geocrab in the Bays of Harris, which exclusively sells his original oil paintings.

Andrew started painting aged 15 and had his first solo exhibition in the Paisley Art Centre in 1994. After a period of working and painting all over the West coast of Scotland, Andrew started ‘Skoon’ online in 2000. In 2001 Andrew and Emma got married on Harris and by 2002 they had bought and started renovating number 4 Geocrab.

In the Spring of 2005, Skoon Gallery opened to the public.
“Capturing the constantly changing light and moods of Harris on canvas in all seasons started as a challenge but has now become a healthy obsession. My subject matter is the seascape and landscape around me, which in their dramatic or subtle forms influence and inspire me greatly and my preferred medium is still traditional oil paints. Patience and time is required to absorb and focus on the place you are trying to capture in oil, and, particularly in the winter, I have plenty of both.” Andrew

Skoon has gone through many changes since its inception 27 years ago and is currently operating as a gallery showcasing Andrew’s most recent original oil paintings with Emma offering winter bookable afternoon teas.
Over the last 22 years we have sold, rolled up and shipped many oil paintings worldwide but if you live in the UK and are looking for a large statement piece of original art, Andrew makes a delivery run round the country every year and will hand deliver, and even help you hang, your painting.
